Camp Sequassen has been delivering top-tier Scouting experiences for nearly a century. Its deep-rooted traditions—like canoe hikes, campfires, and the iconic Fire Hose Competition—create a strong sense of community and legacy. At the same time, the camp evolves each year to stay relevant and engaging. Scouts can earn cutting-edge merit badges in subjects like Game Design, Animation, and Welding, while still enjoying timeless skills like Orienteering or Cooking. This unique balance of classic and contemporary programming makes Sequassen a place where Scouting heritage meets 21st century adventure.
Few camps can match the variety and quality of facilities available at Sequassen. The camp includes a large waterfront with docks, swim areas, paddleboards, canoes, and even an aqua-trampoline. There are separate ranges for archery, rifle, and shotgun shooting, plus a 35-foot climbing tower and a full COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) course. Scouts also have access to modern STEM labs, a handicrafts pavilion, sports fields, disc golf, and a BMX trail. These diverse facilities support nearly every aspect of Scouting—from rugged survival skills to creative expression and team-building.
Camp Sequassen is intentionally designed to grow with its Scouts. For first-year campers, the Wilderness Patrol program offers a guided introduction to Scout skills, advancement, and camp life. Intermediate Scouts can dive into core merit badges or explore new interests through specialty areas. Older Scouts have access to high-adventure activities through the Older Scout Adventures track, including river tubing, advanced climbing, and COPE challenges. For those pursuing Eagle, there’s the Trail to Eagle series. This age-appropriate, tiered programming ensures that every Scout—regardless of experience—feels challenged, included, and inspired.
Camp Sequassen isn’t just for summer—it’s a year-round outdoor hub. Units can book weekend trips during the fall, winter, and spring to use cabins, lean-tos, lodges, the waterfront, ranges, or the COPE course. Seasonal programming includes fishing, hiking, disc golf, winter camping, and leadership training. Camp Sequassen is also a popular site for Order of the Arrow events, Klondike Derbies, and district-wide camporees, and is open for outside groups to host team-building events, organization retreats, and family events. This accessibility and flexibility make it not just a summer camp, but an ideal outdoor venue for Scouting and events in Connecticut and the broader region.
Camp Sequassen proudly holds national accreditation from Scouting America, a distinction that reflects our commitment to the highest standards in safety, program quality, and operational excellence. This accreditation is part of the National Camp Accreditation Program (NCAP), a rigorous process that evaluates camps across a wide range of criteria—including staff qualifications, health and safety protocols, facilities, and the delivery of age-appropriate, engaging programming.
Being nationally accredited means Camp Sequassen consistently meets or exceeds the benchmarks set by Scouting America to ensure a safe, enriching, and memorable outdoor experience for every Scout. It’s one of the many reasons families and units trust Camp Sequassen as a top destination for summer adventure and personal growth.
