Discover What Makes Camp Sequassen Special

Camp Sequassen stands out as a place where Scouts grow, explore, and build memories that last long after summer ends. This post looks at what makes the camp so special—from its wide range of merit badges to its unique programs and camp‑wide traditions. Each part of the Sequassen experience works together to create a week that feels exciting, welcoming, and full of adventure. A Camp Filled with Varied Learning Opportunities One of the things that makes Camp Sequassen special is the variety of merit badges offered across its program areas. Scouts can explore badges like Environmental Science, Wood Carving, Small Boat Sailing, and Wilderness Survival, all taught by enthusiastic staff members who love sharing their knowledge. Because the camp offers such a wide range of topics, Scouts can try something completely new or dive deeper into a subject they already enjoy. This variety helps every camper find a path that fits their interests. Unique Programs That Create Lasting Memories Sequassen is also known for its creative and unexpected programs. Activities like the Fire Hose Competition, Paddleboard Yoga, the Lumberjack Olympics, and the 3D Printing Challenge give Scouts a chance to try something they won’t find at most camps. These programs add excitement to the week and encourage Scouts to step outside their comfort zones. Many campers return home talking about these moments because they blend fun, challenge, and teamwork in a way that feels unforgettable. Activities That Strengthen Troop Connections Another part of what makes Sequassen special is how it brings troops together. Events such as the Frisbee Tournament, Orienteering Challenge, and Ecology Jeopardy give Scouts a chance to work as a team. These activities help strengthen friendships and build troop spirit. Even Scouts who are new to their unit often feel more connected after participating in these shared challenges. The teamwork and laughter that come from these events help shape the overall camp experience. Traditions That Unite the Entire Camp Community Sequassen also shines through its camp‑wide traditions. The Land and Sea Games bring every camper together for friendly competition, while the Opening and Closing Campfires create moments of reflection and celebration. Meals in the Dining Hall add to the sense of community, as Scouts and leaders gather to share stories from their day. These traditions help everyone feel like they are part of something bigger, and they create a rhythm that makes the week feel both exciting and familiar. The People Who Make Camp Sequassen Special Camp Sequassen’s magic comes from the people who fill it with energy, spirit, and heart. The Scouts bring curiosity and excitement to every corner of camp, turning simple activities into unforgettable moments. Leaders add steady guidance and encouragement, helping every Scout feel supported as they try new things and grow in confidence. The staff—many of whom once camped at Sequassen themselves—bring passion, creativity, and dedication to each program they run. Their enthusiasm sets the tone for the entire week. Together, Scouts, leaders, and staff create a community where friendships deepen, traditions matter, and everyone feels like they truly belong. The Place Where Scouts Grow and Belong When all these elements come together—merit badges, unique programs, troop activities, and camp‑wide traditions—they create a place where Scouts feel supported and inspired. Camp Sequassen offers challenges that help campers grow, but it also provides a welcoming environment where they can relax, make friends, and discover new strengths. That balance is what makes the camp truly special and why so many Scouts look forward to returning year after year. Discover Your Perfect Cabin Getaway at Camp Sequassen

Pictured: Friendship Cabin Renting a cabin at Camp Sequassen is a great way to enjoy the outdoors while still having the comfort of indoor lodging. Units often book cabins for weekend camping trips, while families and small groups choose them for relaxing getaways or affordable overnight stays during local events. With options ranging from fully equipped buildings to rustic, back‑to‑basics spaces, Sequassen offers a cabin experience for every type of visitor. Choosing the Right Cabin for Your Group Camp Sequassen provides a wide range of cabins designed for different group sizes and needs. Larger groups often choose Loomis, Cohen, or Friendship, which all include electricity and are available from September through May. Loomis is divided into left and right sides, each holding 24 people and equipped with heat. Friendship holds 33 people and offers plenty of space for unit activities. Cohen holds 24 and provides a comfortable option for mid‑sized groups. These cabins are ideal for troop weekends, training events, and multi‑unit gatherings. Smaller groups may prefer Alling or Sargent, which hold 6 and 4 people, respectively. These cabins are perfect for families or adult groups looking for a quiet retreat. Their size makes them easy to heat and maintain, and they offer a more intimate camping experience. Understanding Amenities and Seasonal Availability Cabin amenities vary widely, giving visitors the flexibility to choose the level of comfort they want. Loomis offers the most complete setup with a full kitchen, refrigerator, bathroom, electricity, and heat. This makes it a great choice for winter camping or groups that want a more home‑like experience. Cohen and Friendship also include electricity and are well‑suited for groups that need reliable lighting and power. More rustic options, such as the Hermit Shack, provide a simpler, back‑to‑nature experience. These cabins are ideal for groups that want to focus on outdoor skills or enjoy a minimalist weekend. All cabins except Loomis, Cohen, and Friendship are available from September through mid‑October and reopen in May before summer camp begins. Exploring Waterfront and Campsite Cabin Locations Some cabins offer unique locations that enhance the camping experience. Alling and Sargent sit directly on the water, giving guests beautiful views of West Hill Pond. These cabins are especially popular with families who want a peaceful setting or adults looking for a relaxing getaway. For units that prefer staying within a campsite, Savino and Zimmermann each hold 16 people and are located in Trail and Jerome campsites, respectively. Savino is a great option for units that want a cabin experience while still feeling connected to traditional campsite life. Zimmermann must be booked together with Jerome campsite, making it ideal for larger unit activities or events that require both indoor and outdoor space. Enjoying Newly Renovated Family Cabin Options Camp Sequassen’s Family Cabins 2–7 are newly renovated and designed specifically for families, not units. Each cabin fits four people and includes a kitchenette, electricity, refrigerator, stove, bathroom, and running water. Family Cabins 2 and 3 also include heat, making them excellent choices for cooler‑weather stays. These cabins are perfect for a weeklong vacation, a weekend escape, or a quiet retreat surrounded by nature.
