The 2026 Camp Sequassen Summer Camp Kickoff was a huge success, packed with essential information, exciting program updates, and a glimpse into the summer adventure that awaits. Get Ready For The Best Summer Camp Ever! Camp Sequassen is gearing up for an incredible summer season, and our recent live kickoff event offered a comprehensive preview of everything new and exciting on the horizon. From administrative essentials to specialty programs and facility improvements, the livestream covered all the bases to help units and Scouts prepare for their 2026 adventure. This post summarizes the highlights from our camp leadership and staff, ensuring you have all the key takeaways to plan your best week at Sequassen yet. Important Updates: Administration, Deadlines, and Special Opportunities Camp Director Mike “Migs” Migliore kicked off the administrative session by painting a vivid picture of a typical day at camp, setting the stage for the week-long experience. He emphasized important administrative deadlines that units must meet to ensure a smooth registration process. A major highlight was the announcement of the Week 7 Special deal, offering an incredible value for troops. Scouts attending with a unit and fully paid by April 15th can secure their week of camp for as low as $300 per person—a fantastic opportunity not to be missed! Nurse Dave followed up with a crucial walkthrough of the Scouting America medical form, providing best practices for troop leaders to accurately and completely fill out all required medical information. Merit Badges, Adventures, and Alumni Gatherings Specialty Programs Director Dylan detailed the diverse offerings beyond the standard troop experience. For older Scouts, the popular Trail to Eagle merit badges will be available each week. Additionally, the Cooking merit badge will be specifically offered during Week 7, perfectly aligning with the special deal. Dylan also highlighted the OA Day programs hosted by Owaneco Lodge and the return of the Sequassen Alumni Day on Wednesdays, sponsored by the Sequassen Alumni Association, which welcomes former campers back to the reservation. Finally, the Webelos and Arrow of Light Adventure Camp promises specialized fun for our youngest campers. Waterfront Thrills and High-Tech STEM Programs Program Director Mike Gavlik provided an exciting overview of the new and returning programs across the camp’s main program areas, including updates to the Challenge Area and Handicrafts area. We then heard from Area Directors. Boating Director Thomas shared the excitement of the waterfront, detailing the available programs from various watercraft—kayaks, rowboats, and sailboats—to the always-splashy Fire Hose Competition. STEM and Trades Director Tyler discussed the engaging merit badges and programs in his area. He highlighted his favorites: the hands-on Automotive Maintenance merit badge, particularly “oil change day,” and the competitive SEQ Space Race. Tyler also previewed the fun-filled Land and Sea Games, a perfect way for units to cap off their week. New Camp Improvements and Facility Renovations Ranger Dave wrapped up the program updates with news on significant capital improvement projects designed to enhance the overall camp experience. Scouts attending this summer will benefit from the central shower house, which is currently under construction and promises modern amenities. Dave also announced the installation of the new Maloney Multisport Court, offering expanded recreational activities. Furthermore, the old north shower house is undergoing renovations to be transformed into a new, dedicated classroom area, providing improved space for instruction and learning.
