Camp Sequassen

Welcome to the Sports and Wellness Area

The Sports and Wellness Area at Camp Sequassen offers Scouts the opportunity to stay active, build teamwork, and explore personal fitness in a high-energy, supportive setting. Whether you’re tossing a frisbee, learning how to improve your mile time, or earning merit badges related to physical health, this area blends fun and movement with the values of wellness and personal development.

Facilities to Keep You Moving

At the center of the Sports and Wellness Area is Clark Field, a large, open green space that serves as the hub for games, tournaments, and free play throughout the week. This versatile field is the home of high-energy matches of ultimate frisbee, volleyball, and patrol relay challenges. With ample room and great visibility, it’s the perfect gathering place for troop competitions and spontaneous pickup games alike. Whether it’s early morning warmups or late-afternoon frisbee showdowns, Clark Field is always buzzing with action.

Just a short walk away, you’ll find the ever-popular Gaga Ball Pit, a favorite for Scouts of all ages. Open nearly all day, the pit draws constant crowds for fast-paced, last-one-standing matches that are equal parts strategy and chaos. Scouts drop in between classes, during open program, or in the evening for another shot at glory. Add in the disc golf course, which winds through the woods with a mix of short and long throws, and the sand volleyball court, and you have a well-rounded, always-active zone that keeps Scouts engaged, active, and smiling.

Merit Badges

The Sports and Wellness Area offers a diverse set of merit badges that allow Scouts to challenge themselves physically, socially, and mentally. For those focused on health and athletics, the Personal Fitness badge provides the foundation. As an Eagle-required badge, it introduces Scouts to exercise routines, nutrition basics, and wellness planning. Athletics and Sports badges explore training techniques, game strategy, and how to set and achieve personal performance goals. These merit badges emphasize effort, discipline, and growth over competition, giving Scouts the tools to stay healthy and active year-round.

For Scouts looking to explore other dimensions of wellness and creativity, the area also offers unique badges like Moviemaking, Salesmanship, and Game Design. These badges are popular among Scouts who enjoy storytelling, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Whether they’re directing a short film, designing a board game, or learning how to pitch a product, Scouts develop communication skills, teamwork, and confidence. These experiences provide balance to the more physical aspects of camp and ensure that every Scout finds a badge that matches their interests and strengths.

Tournaments and COmpetitions

The Sports and Wellness Area is also home to some of the most exciting competitions of the week. Scouts can participate in organized volleyball tournaments, fast-paced badminton matches, strategic disc golf rounds, and high-energy ultimate frisbee games. Troops compete throughout the week in bracket-style or round-robin formats, building friendly rivalries and earning points for their patrols.

The grand prize? The winning troop in each major sport earns the opportunity to take on the camp staff in an epic championship match. These spirited face-offs are campwide highlights, drawing large crowds and producing unforgettable moments of teamwork, triumph, and good-natured bragging rights.

Land and Sea Games

One of the most exciting events of the week is the Land and Sea Games, held on Friday afternoon and packed with energy, spirit, and troop pride. The land portion features classic challenges like the intense tug of war, a fast-paced and often hilarious relay race, and the highly competitive Gaga Ball Tournament. Scouts work together to earn points for their troop, showcasing strength, speed, coordination, and teamwork.

Whether your patrol is charging through the course or cheering from the sidelines, the Land and Sea Games bring the entire camp together for an unforgettable end-of-week celebration.
