Volunteers are the Heartbeat of Camp Sequassen
Camp Sequassen depends on a dedicated community of volunteers who step forward to support every part of camp life. Their contributions shape the experience Scouts enjoy—from maintaining safe and welcoming facilities to helping deliver high‑quality program areas. Volunteers lend their expertise in trades, outdoor skills, administration, and youth support, ensuring the camp remains a place where adventure and learning can flourish. Whether someone gives a few hours on a weekend or commits to ongoing projects, every act of service strengthens the camp and helps preserve its legacy for future generations.
The volunteer sign‑up form helps Camp Sequassen connect people with roles and projects that match their skills, interests, and availability. It’s designed to make volunteering approachable for everyone—whether someone has professional experience, practical know‑how, or simply enthusiasm to learn and help. By sharing a bit about what they enjoy and how often they can participate, volunteers make it easier for the camp to place them where they’ll have the greatest impact.
The form asks for:
This information helps the camp build a well‑rounded volunteer team and ensures every person—regardless of experience level—can contribute in a meaningful way.
The Camp Sequassen Maintenance Committee is a dedicated team of volunteers who take responsibility for the ongoing care, repair, and improvement of the camp’s facilities. Their work ensures that cabins, program areas, trails, and infrastructure remain safe, functional, and ready for Scouts in every season. Members bring a wide range of skills—carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, landscaping, painting, mechanical repair, and general labor—and apply them to both routine upkeep and long‑term projects that enhance the camp experience.
A major part of the committee’s work is organizing and leading regular volunteer work parties. These events bring together Scouters, alumni, parents, and friends of Sequassen to tackle projects that require many hands, from clearing brush and repairing roofs to building new structures and preparing camp for major events. The committee coordinates materials, identifies priority tasks, and ensures that every volunteer—regardless of skill level—has a meaningful way to contribute. Their leadership keeps the camp in excellent condition and strengthens the community that supports it.
