Meet the Staff Monday: Addison and ASJ!

Welcome to Meet the Staff Monday! This week, we are highlighting the incredible people who make Camp Sequassen feel like home. From a first-year instructor eager to welcome new campers to an area director celebrating nearly two decades at camp, meet the familiar faces of our 2026 staff! Meet the Range Instructor, Addison How many years have you worked on staff at Camp Sequassen? This is my first year on staff! What are you looking forward to most this summer? I am definitely looking forward to meeting new people and experiencing my very first summer on camp staff. What is your favorite Scouting memory? Attending the National Jamboree in 2023 in West Virginia. I got to spend my birthday there surrounded by thousands of fellow Scouts and made so many lifelong friends. What is your favorite Camp Sequassen memory? Winning the Spirit Stick in 2024 when I served as the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) for my troop during Week 1. If you had to pick one merit badge to teach for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? Definitely Rifle Shooting. It is a fantastic, hands-on merit badge that is incredibly fun to learn and teach. What is your favorite camp song? The Moose Song! Why did you join the Camp Sequassen staff? I wanted to become more connected to camp and to Scouting as a whole. Joining staff is the perfect way to spend my summer outdoors and to spend more time at camp. Meet the Handicrafts Director, ASJ How many years have you worked on staff at Camp Sequassen? This is my 19th year on staff, and my 17th summer serving as the Handicrafts Area Director! What are you looking forward to most this summer? Showing our Scouts new skills like Blacksmithing and Wood Carving, plus a brand-new craft project that we are keeping a secret for now as a fun surprise. What is your favorite Scouting memory? Hiking Mount Katahdin up in Maine alongside my troop and my father. What is your favorite Camp Sequassen memory? I have been coming here since 2001, so it is impossible to narrow it down to just one. I have made countless memories here and cannot wait to make many more. If you had to pick one merit badge to teach for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? Metalwork, because there are absolutely no limits to what you can create once you master the skill. What is your favorite camp song? The Camp Sequassen Loyalty Song or The Teapot Song. If you could have any meal at camp right now, what would it be? Pork and egg noodles, with enough gravy to float the navy! Why did you join the Camp Sequassen staff? To share the skills I have learned with the next generation of Scouts and to keep catching up with friends I have made over the last 20-plus years. There is nothing like being part of a team that makes a genuine difference every single time we put on that iconic maroon polo shirt. Want to catch up with Addison and ASJ this summer?
